The Art Song Consortium obtained a great turnout for the Catalogue of Flowers - Part One vocal recital and would like to extend our thanks and appreciation to our Singapore audience for their warm support and keen interest in our work.
The external beauty of flowers not only captivates the hearts of many, but their embedded symbolism in diverse cultures has also inspired bountiful masterpieces.
Catalogue of Flowers - Part One features a total of twenty-four different flowers. We have specially selected a song for a specific flower. While the appearance, shade and scents of flowers can appreciated through sight and smell, our audience can also listen to what flowers have to say.
Together with Aloysius Foong on the piano, we brought our audience into the world of flowers through the performance of solo art songs and duets by composers － Erich Anders, Frederick Delius, Americ Goh, Franz Liszt, Darius Milhaud, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Joachim Raff, Anton Rubinstein, Robert Schumann, Robert Stolz and Hugo Wolf.
Our heartfelt thanks to the National Arts Council for their support.
